The Hodgman Liberal Government knows that our national parks and reserves are one of the key drivers of growth in our visitor economy, which is why we support the Mount Roland Cableway project.
It’s a shame this anti-everything brigade is intent on opposing the project which could come as a huge benefit to the region by creating jobs and providing a new and exciting way for visitors to interact with our environment.
The proposed 13-cabin gondola system will provide direct access to the summit of Mt Roland, with an all mountain circumnavigation descent to be designed and managed by Tasmania’s world-leading Dirt Art company.
Stage one of the project was recently approved, paving the way for the Mount Roland Cableway and Adventure Precinct to undertake a Reserve Activity Assessment and seek approval through relevant Commonwealth and State Government planning approval processes.
If approved under all State and Federal planning laws, it is expected to create between 12-17 full time jobs and add significantly to the local economy with the capital investment estimated at $21 million.
This is yet another tourism experience that will stimulate our regional economies, while getting visitors to stay longer and spend more.
