Powerhouse Place, located along Mildura’s iconic riverfront, is offering a summer of fun program throughout January.
The multi-purpose event and function space, which recently underwent a multi-million dollar redevelopment, will host everything from movie nights to live music this month.
Regular sporting fixtures will also soon be screened at the site, while the Yennaga Yettang Women’s Art Project, which was launched in November 2023, will also air nightly at the venue.
Councillor for Tourism and Events Mark Eckel said the Powerhouse would embrace a carnival atmosphere throughout January courtesy of the onsite projector in the Yennaga Janji outdoor gathering space.
“We kicked off our summer of fun at Powerhouse Place last weekend with the first in an ongoing series of free movie nights,” Cr Eckel said.
“These family-friendly flicks will continue to be shown each Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from 9pm, while the site will soon be able to screen marquee sporting matches.
“There’ll be live music, food and drink and just a great atmosphere for anyone interested in heading to the riverfront.”
Councillor for Economic Development Stefano de Pieri said that with Powerhouse’s close location to Mildura’s thriving CBD, the event would also provide an opportunity for visitors and locals to experience more of what the region has to offer while supporting local businesses.
“The Powerhouse is only a short walk from Feast Street and the Langtree Mall, offering people the chance to enjoy a meal before visiting the riverfront to watch a movie, sporting event or listen to some music,” Cr de Pieri said.
“Spark Café, located inside the Powerhouse, will also provide snacks and refreshments ahead of each movie night.”
Details about upcoming movies can be found at What’s On Mildura or the Mildura Riverfront website.
Those attending are encouraged to dress appropriately for forecast weather and bring along mozzie repellent.
