Detectives have charged three men and a woman following an alleged kidnapping in North Parramatta last week.
On Friday 23 February 2024, officers attached to the State Crime Command Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Sweater to investigate the alleged kidnapping of a 33-year-old male.
Following inquiries police conducted a large-scale police operation on Webb Street, North Parramatta, about 9.40pm on Saturday 24 February 2024.
During the operation police located a 33-year-old man inside the property who was held against his will. He was treated at the scene for serious facial, body and leg injuries before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Police arrested three people at the home – two men aged 40 and 44 – and a 38-year-old woman.
During a search of the home officers located drugs, ammunition, electronic devices and items believed to have been used in the alleged kidnapping. These were all seized for forensic examination.
All three were charged with take or detain in company with intent to get advantage occasioning actual bodily harm and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
They were refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Sunday 25 February 2024.
The 44-year-old man was formally refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on 2 May 2024.
The 40-year-old and the 38-year-old woman were formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Wednesday 28 February 2024.
Following further inquiries specialist police executed a crime scene warrant and arrested a 20-year-old man at a unit complex in Lidcombe about 1am today (Monday 26 February 2024).
He was taken to Auburn Police Station where he was charged with take or detain in company with intent to get advantage occasioning actual bodily harm and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
The man was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today (Monday 26 February 2024).
Investigations under Strike Force Sweater are continuing.
