South Brisbane detectives have charged a 30-year-old Kingston woman with murder following the death of a three-month-old baby girl over 12 years ago.
On September 2, 2011, paramedics attended a Redland Bay address in relation to a baby girl not breathing.
The baby was transported to the Redland Bay Hospital and later the Mater Children’s Hospital, where she died on September 6, 2011.
The matter was investigated at the time, with the status of the investigation remaining undetermined.
In January 2024, police received further information about the matter, and as a result, Operation Whiskey Magra, involving detectives from the Bayside Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU) and the Crime and Intelligence Command Child Trauma Unit, was commenced.
Yesterday, a 30-year-old Kingston woman was arrested and charged with murder (domestic violence offence).
She was refused police bail and is due to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, March 9.
