A man has been charged over the suspected domestic violence-related death of a woman at Woonona.
Emergency services were called to a home on Gray Street, Woonona, about 11pm Monday (18 February 2019), responding to reports a woman had been injured.
Officers from Wollongong Police District and paramedics arrived on site but were unable to revive the 76-year-old woman, and she died at the scene.
A crime scene was established, and detectives began investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 55-year-old man at Wollongong Police Station yesterday (Tuesday 19 February 2019). He has now been charged with murder.
The man has been refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday 20 February 2019).
