The McGowan Government will decrease the levy paid by employers to fund the MyLeave scheme.
It will be reduced from one per cent to 0.01 per cent for the next six months, freeing up an estimated $12 million to $14 million of working capital.
Due to the nature of the construction industry, the Government’s MyLeave scheme allows workers to accrue long service leave and carry over the benefits from employer to employer.
As stated by Industrial Relations Minister Bill Johnston:
“The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted many industries in Western Australia, including employers in the construction sector.
“These changes will help boost our State’s economy and provide some much-needed financial support for Western Australian families during this difficult time.
“Thank you to the MyLeave board for their support and recommendations.”
