NAB has unveiled its new Adelaide headquarters, supporting a revitalised CBD and setting a new sustainability benchmark for South Australia.
The 14-floor Charter Hall development at 60 King William Street operates at net zero and has a variety of sustainable features, including 6-star Green Star rating, a 5-star NABERS Energy Rating, 6-star NABERS Waste Rating, and Platinum Well certification, supporting NAB’s climate action strategy.
NAB occupies two levels and a ground floor retail branch, with the spaces created in collaboration with Adelaide colleagues who began moving into the building in late-2023.
NAB CEO Ross McEwan was today (Friday 9 February) joined by South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas to officially open NAB Adelaide.
“Adelaide is home to world-leading research and innovation, and we are proud to be part of this thriving community,” Mr McEwan said.
“NAB is a relationship bank and with our new central office in the heart of the city we’re ensuring that our people have the tools they need to provide great service to our customers.
“We can see office attendance is already rising. This tells me our colleagues enjoy and get benefit from being together at our new Adelaide headquarters.”
The number of Adelaide colleagues choosing to work from the office has more than doubled compared to attendance at NAB’s former Adelaide headquarters at the nearby 22 King William Street.
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas welcomed the investment in Adelaide.
“NAB has been big part of the community for many years, employing hundreds of South Australians,” Premier Malinauskas said.
“We welcome this new development and investment in Adelaide. Not only does this building set a new sustainability benchmark, it also supports activation in the CBD, with a variety of tenants including retail and hospitality.”
During his trip to South Australia, Mr McEwan also met with colleagues at local branches and businesses, including Yumbah Aquaculture, A.S. Horne Consolidated and Junction Australia.
“It has been great to hear first-hand from locals about their goals this year. There are challenges for households and businesses as the economy slows, but I am optimistic that conditions will improve later this year,” he said.
The development was funded by NAB, as the major banking partner of Charter Hall. NAB is also a longstanding tenant customer, occupying several Charter Hall premises across Australia.

- NAB Adelaide is home to more than 400 colleagues across all divisions.
- Recent Property Council data showed Adelaide had the worst office vacancy rate in the country, at 19.3% in January.
- The building was developed under a carbon neutral framework and is net zero in operations. It targets a 6-star Green Star rating, a 5-star NABERS Energy Rating, 6-star NABERS Waste Rating, and Platinum Well certification. The precinct includes an all-electric mechanical central plant and climate-friendly refrigeration.
- The building was designed by Cox Architecture and constructed by Built.
- Construction began in 2021 and more than 1,500 local jobs were created during development and delivery.
- The building features Adelaide’s first sky lobby, flexible workspaces, wellness centre, the CBD’s largest end-of-trip facilities, 350 bike parks and electric vehicle charging.
- Other tenants include Telstra and Services Australia, with ground floor retail and hospitality spaces.
