The Noosa Aquatic Centre will close for 48 hours after confirmed positive COVID-19 cases by community members who attended the facility.
Council announced that with the two recent confirmed cases, the decision to close the facility will allow for a “thorough clean” and a detailed risk assessment to be conducted.
“We’ve been notified by two members who attended the facility on Tuesday January 4 that they had tested positive to the virus,” Acting CEO Larry Sengstock said.
“The health, well-being and safety of the community and our staff is paramount, so we consider this is the right decision to take at this time,” he said.
Mr Sengstock encouraged anyone who may have been at the facility recently to monitor their health and get tested, if they have any symptoms.
“We acknowledge that this will impact many in our community, but we will move as quickly as we can to determine when we can reopen the facility,” he said.
“We need to slow the transmission of this virus, so it’s important everyone in our community take the necessary precautions such as wear a mask, avoid large gatherings and stay at home if you have any symptoms.” Mr Sengstock said.
