NAIDOC film screening an eye-opener

What are your plans for NAIDOC Week?

Why not attend a free film screening of Undermined: Tales from the Kimberley, an eye-opening look at the impact of sustained pressure from big business on the culture and society of residents in the Kimberley.

Filmmakers Stephanie King and Nicholas Wrathall offer the powerful documentary screening at Bandiana Area Cinema on Monday, July 8 at 6pm as part of NAIDOC Week activities in Albury Wodonga.

The movie follows traditional owners such as Bardi activist and musician Albert Wiggan and Yimardoowarra academic Dr Anne Poelina as they question what meaningful negotiation looks like, whilst industry pressure exposes the limits of land rights.

Award-winning documentarian Nicholas Wrathall (Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia) investigates the true cost of business in the world-famous region, now branded by the government “the future economic powerhouse of Australia” and what this means for First Nations and their cultural landscapes.
