As stated by Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Van Kempen, Rotorua Area Manager, Investigations:
Police can now confirm the name of the woman who’s body was found by Lake Rotorua on the morning of Friday 18 October.
She was Rotorua woman Melissa Merika Jones, aged 25.
We extend our sympathies to her family during this difficult time.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained.
“We are working to piece together the circumstances leading up towards the death,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Van Kempen.
