Police can now confirm the name of the woman who died in the water in Ahuriri, Napier, on 4 November.
She was 50-year-old Rachel Louise James, of South Head, Auckland.
Police offer condolences to her family and loved ones at this difficult time.
Her death has been referred to the Coroner.
