Police are appealing for witnesses after a man stole a vehicle with the owner on board in Essendon in December.
It is believed the victim left his Ford sedan unattended in a carport on Fitzgerald Street, when an unknown offender got into the vehicle and sped off about 11am on 27 December.
In an attempt to stop the driver, the 29-year-old man jumped into the open boot and screamed out to witnesses for help.
The sedan continued on, spotted driving on the wrong side of the road through several streets and travelling at more than 100km/h over speed bumps, while yelling at the victim to get out.
The driver then dumped the vehicle and fled on foot last seen jumping into a backyard on Guthrie Street in Brunswick West.
No one was injured.
The unknown offender is described as being Caucasian in appearance, in his mid-30’s, approximately 180cm tall, with his left hand, left leg and left arm covered in tattoos.
Investigators have released CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
