³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Book Relay drops into Wollongong

After traveling about 4,000 kms from Perth the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Book Relay drops into Wollongong for the final leg of its journey.

Carried by a small army of volunteers, the book, Alpacas with Maracas, will arrive in Stuart Park with the help of local Skydive the Beach members.

This year’s book, by Matt Cosgrove, travelled across Australia, stopping at dozens of cities and villages en-route, spreading the important message of the vital need to read, talk, sing, rhyme and draw with children from birth.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Cr Gordon Bradbery AM said reading and literacy is precious gift that we give our children.

“Reading and singing to a young child is essential to literacy and a lifelong curiosity. The ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Book Relay is a massive benefit to your children and students and I encourage everyone to sit down and read to their children or grandchildren when they can.”

This year’s book has been signed by a number of personalities and dignitaries on the trip from Perth. This book will be delivered to Lady Lynne Cosgrove, wife of Australian Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove, as the patron for Paint the Town REaD ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾.

The ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Book Relay was launched in Perth on 20 March 2019.
