Townsville’s building and construction sector has been given a boost with the expansion of steel building product manufacturer Metroll following the settlement of land in Bohle Industrial Estate.
Member for Townsville Scott Stewart said the settlement of Lot 22 at the Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) industrial precinct was a sign of confidence in the region.
“Metroll’s acquisition of this industrial land is expected to support 12 local jobs and will further boost Townsville’s building and construction sector,” Mr Stewart said.
“The company’s new manufacturing site in Bohle Industrial Estate will be three times the size of their current Townsville site.
“The 10,970 m2 block will allow Metroll to expand their business, increase their workforce and provide greater services to our region.
“Increasing access to industrial land provides businesses such as Metroll with the essential building blocks to expand and grow regional economies, resulting in more local jobs for places like Townsville.”
This is the fifth purchase of EDQ industrial land by Metroll, which now has sites stretching from Cairns to the Sunshine Coast.
Metroll General Manager Ian Grambower said the access to these industrial sites across Queensland has allowed his business to expand.
“As one of the country’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of steel building products, we need to secure suitable industrial land to best serve Queenslanders and to allow our business to grow,” Mr Grambower said.
“Thanks to EDQ, we have purchased industrial sites at Cairns (Woree Business and Industry Park), Gladstone (Clinton Industrial Estate), Rockhampton (Parkhurst Industrial Estate), Bundaberg (Bundaberg Industrial Park) and the Sunshine Coast (Sunshine Coast Industrial Park).
“We find working with EDQ to secure industrial land very easy and they help make the transaction a simple process.
“Being able to secure industrial land at these locations across Queensland has ensured we can expand our market in key strategic areas and employ more local staff. “
Bohle Industrial Estate is an EDQ industrial precinct for medium-impact industries, offering opportunities for businesses to grow and employ in Townsville.
