The NRL has released its third Social Impact Report, outlining the positive community and wellbeing program achievements delivered year-round by the Game.
Highlights in the report include:
- 97 NRL workshops delivered to rugby league clubs across Australia and throughout Papua New Guinea and Fiji – reaching more than 2,000 participants
- 95 workshops delivered to rugby league clubs across Australia – supported by 26 current and former male and female rugby league players
- 69 NRL programs delivered across Australian high schools – reaching more than 2,000 participants
- 238 Australian high schools involved in the NRL’s program – with 95% of participants successfully transitioning from high school into higher education or work
- Over 8000 school children participating in the NRL tours – involving players from NRL clubs and reaching 49 schools across 43 localities
- For every dollar invested in the NRL’s community programs $4.10 of social value was created (with independent analysis conducted to value the impact of community programs)
NRL Head of Government and Community Relations, Jaymes Boland-Rudder said the Social Impact Report was an important way to highlight and measure the effectiveness of the work the game does to unite communities and inspire positive social change.
“There are many wonderful stories across thousands of Australian and Pacific Island communities where the NRL is making a positive impact and difference every day,” Mr Boland Rudder said.
“It’s important to acknowledge and thank the many hard-working and dedicated men and women across our game that help deliver messages and programs focused on respect, inclusion and wellbeing.
“We want to ensure that every dollar we invest in community programs is generating a positive social outcome. That’s why we engaged Social Ventures Australia to independently conduct a Social Return on Investment analysis, which is an internationally-recognised approach used to value the impact of community-based programs.
“Rugby League has a significant profile across millions of fans in Australia and around the world. More importantly, we have an opportunity to inspire proactive and positive change and we will continue to do this via the community and wellbeing programs we deliver.”
