³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Rugby League welcomes Sporting Schools funding

The NRL has welcomed the Australian Government’s s investment for sport programs and infrastructure announced in last night’s federal Budget.

The sports package includes an extension of the Sporting Schools program, funds to build and upgrade community sports infrastructure, including women’s and girls’ change rooms, and funds to encourage more people from minority and disadvantaged groups to play sport, particularly in regional areas.

NRL Head of Game Development, Participation and Pathways Luke Ellis said the funding from the Government will provide greater opportunities for children of all ages to get active and involved in rugby league at all levels.

“As an organisation the NRL’s aim is to bring people together and empower them to feel welcome in our game,” Mr Ellis said.

“Through the Sporting Schools program, the NRL introduced tens-of-thousands of students to rugby league in a safe, non-competitive and fun environment.

“The continuation of the Sporting Schools program will allow even more girls, boys and teachers, to take part in rugby league programs right throughout Australia – from the Top-End right down to Tasmania.”
