A new agreement with Tasmania’s building and construction industry will help drive the delivery of more homes for Tasmanians.
Minister for Housing, Planning, and Consumer Affairs, Felix Ellis said the Tasmanian Government is getting on with the job of ensuring more homes are built for Tasmanians, in partnership with the industry.
“We are pulling every lever at our disposal, today reconvening the Building and Construction Roundtable to refocus our combined efforts on delivering more homes,” Minister Ellis said.
“The new MOU agreed today affirms Government and industry’s commitment to work hand in hand to get roofs over the heads of Tasmanians faster and cheaper.
“The new agreement will focus on opportunities to ensure more homes are constructed each year through the private sector and that strategic planning, building and regulatory processes are improved to enable industry to deliver housing.
“It will also increase opportunities for land release for housing and for infill development.
“There will be an ongoing focus on attracting, training and retaining a skilled workforce through the Hi-Vis Army.
“Through our Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we will continue to pull out all the stops to grow Tasmania’s housing supply and affordability.”
