More locals will be afforded future job security thanks to the development of Australia’s largest warehouse, the Amazon Robotics fulfilment centre, in Craigieburn.
Amazon Australia’s announcement that the Craigieburn Logistics Estate will become the site of its second fulfilment centre is a major coup for local workers, buyers and sellers as it brings with it the capacity to house 25 million of Amazon’s smaller online products.
Work is now underway on the state-of-the-art facility, which will span an area around five times the size of Federation Square at Amaroo Road in Craigieburn.
It will serve customers Australia-wide, packing and shipping items from around the world, making Hume a valuable piece of the retail giant’s operations.
Amazon Australia is a juggernaut in delivery space, meaning locals can be assured the 2,000 jobs that will be created in the area once the facility is operational also come with long term security.
Added to this, the high-tech use of robotics to support everyday workers keeps Hume moving with modern times, helping locals upskill and expand their work opportunities into the future.
Hume City Council has provided extensive support and services to the project, from its investment facilitation and efficient planning approvals to preparing to support local employment at the facility through Hume City Council’s Local Jobs for Local People program.
Knowing that amazon Australia’s first robotics site in NSW doubled the company’s operational footprint in 2022 gives an exciting idea of the bright future for Hume’s economy.
Construction on Craigieburn’s Amazon Robotics fulfilment centre is expected to be complete by 2025
