The Andrews Labor Government has today announced the appointment of Meghan Hoare to the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria.
Ms Hoare has more than 20 years’ legal experience and will commence her appointment as a magistrate on 1 November 2019.
Ms Hoare was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1994 and has worked for more than two decades in workers compensation law in both metropolitan and regional Victoria.
Her expertise in this area of law was recognised in 2016 in the prestigious Doyle’s Guide.
Ms Hoare has served in senior leadership roles at Slater and Gordon, most recently as General Manager of Workers Compensation.
She has also served in leadership roles in the broader legal community. In 2017, she was appointed by the Minister for Finance to the WorkCover Advisory Committee. In 2016, she served as Chair of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Workers Compensation Committee.
Ms Hoare has a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from Monash University.
The appointment of Ms Hoare follows the retirement of Magistrate Peter Mealy in March 2019.
