After an extensive recruitment campaign, the Chief Executive of the NSW Rural Assistance Authority (RAA), Darren Budworth has confirmed the appointment of Louise Clarke to the NSW RAA Board, as well as the reappointment of current member Derek Schoen for a second term.
Mr Budworth said that the state-wide campaign drew a strong pool of qualified candidates resulting in a highly competitive recruitment process.
“I would like to sincerely congratulate Louise on her new appointment and am confident that her expertise in corporate finance and governance as well as extensive experience working on many regionally focused boards and committees will be invaluable to the RAA Board,” said Mr Budworth.
“Likewise, I acknowledge the valued contribution that Derek has made to the board since his first appointment in early 2020 and have full confidence that he will continue to bring industry insight and a passion for building sustainable and resilient agricultural farm businesses.”
The Rural Assistance Authority administers vital financial assistance programs, on behalf of the NSW and Australian governments, to help farmers and farm-related small businesses to become more resilient, self-reliant and sustainable.
“As the people of NSW continue to battle widespread natural disasters, biosecurity outbreaks and an ever-changing economic climate, the role of the RAA in supporting regional communities is as important as ever,” said Mr Budworth.
“Every member of the RAA board brings with them a wealth of skills, experience and knowledge of agricultural issues; each member complementing the other, so that as a whole, they’re able to better support the RAA, providing stability and advice, and ensuring that the strategic objectives of the organisation can be met, well into the future.”
From 1 January 2023, the NSW RAA Board consists of:
- Mr Andrew Rice, Chair (Parkes)
- Mr Derek Schoen (Corowa)
- Mrs Elizabeth Lyne (Cootamundra)
- Mr Charlie Blomfield (Canowindra)
- Mrs Joanna Balcomb (Cudal)
- Ms Louise Clarke (Yarrowitch)
- Mr Darren Budworth, RAA Chief Executive Officer (Orange)
“The calibre of candidates in this round of recruitment was nothing short of exceptional and I’d like to sincerely thank all those who expressed an interest in joining the RAA Board,” said Mr Budworth.
