- $5 million election commitment to redevelop Kalgoorlie Boulder Basketball Stadium underway
- Demolition of old outdoor courts and offices now complete
- Construction includes new courts and new accessible changerooms
Construction of Kalgoorlie’s new basketball courts is bouncing towards completion in 2024, delivering on an election commitment for the Kalgoorlie community that’s backed by a $5 million Cook Government investment.
Premier Roger Cook, Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman and Kalgoorlie MLA Ali Kent today visited the Brookman Street site to inspect works, with demolition of the old outdoor courts and offices now complete.
The redevelopment of the Kalgoorlie Boulder Basketball Stadium includes:
- structural repair and refurbishment of the existing three court stadium;
- two additional indoor courts one as a show court with tiered spectator seating
- four new universally accessible changerooms, with new toilets and showers;
- a referee room and a dedicated first aid room;
- a canteen with servery and large function space; and
- an administration office and multiple meeting rooms.
The total cost of the project is $12.9 million with $3 million from the Australian Government, $4.4 million as part of the Better Building Regions Fund, and $500,000 from the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Demolition works on the Outridge Terrace Road Reserve are set to start in coming weeks, with overall construction due for completion in mid-2024.

“These new basketball courts are eagerly anticipated by hoops enthusiasts in Kalgoorlie and it’s fantastic to see the construction on track for completion in 2024.
“Sport and recreation venues are social hubs, especially in regional Western Australia.I’m proud of our Government’s ongoing financial support for facilities like basketball stadiums that are vital to creating vibrant, inclusive, connected communities.”
