New Blueprint Sets Out Future Of Community Sport

VIC Premier

The Andrews Labor Government is paving the way for a surge in community sport across the state with a new long-term plan to keep Victorians active.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today launched Active Victoria 2022-2026, an updated Labor Government blueprint that sets out priorities in the community sport sector, from grassroots to the elite level.

From securing the 2026 Commonwealth Games for regional Victoria to the Community Sport Sector COVID-19 Survival Package that provided $50 million to more than 7,000 clubs, leagues, state associations and other organisations during the pandemic, a range of Government-backed initiatives are highlighted in strategy.

The reboot of Active Victoria builds on these successes, as well as new learnings and insights during the pandemic from the Government’s sport and recreation sector partnerships.

Active Victoria 2022-2026 delivers a strategic framework to get all levels of sport participants back in the game and will guide future grant opportunities, initiatives and partnerships.

The Victorian Budget 2022-23 invested $88 million on a community sport infrastructure blitz, providing better facilities for sports clubs and communities, while also creating new jobs.

Significant investment in new and upgraded facilities will occur across regional Victoria to prepare for and deliver the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The Government has worked with a wide range of partners and stakeholders that make up the Victorian and national sports and active recreation sector to develop the new Active Victoria 2022-26.
