The Pharmacy Guild of Australia NT Branch has announced the appointment of Keely Quinn as its new Branch Director.
Ms Quinn said her appointment as NT Branch Director was both exciting and challenging.
“The community pharmacy sector has undergone some radical change over the past few years and now has the momentum to provide even more services and benefits for patients,” Ms Quinn said.
“We need to make the most of these opportunities in the Territory and ensure Pharmacy Guild members are able to continue increasing the range of services, advice and benefits for all of their patients.
“COVID-19 has highlighted just how essential community pharmacies are to the health and wellbeing of everyone in the Territory.”
Ms Quinn, a Territorian, has previously worked with Engineers Australia, the Australian Hotels Association and Transport for London in procurement, governance, training, and industrial relations roles.
NT Branch President Peter Hatswell welcomed Ms Quinn to the role.
“Keely comes to us with a wealth of valuable experience in the broad not-for-profit sector,” Mr Hatswell said.
“Her expertise in management and working with governments and the bureaucracy will be critical as we move the community pharmacy sector forward.
“An area of focus will be enabling Northern Territory community pharmacists to work to their full scope of practice.
“COVID-19 and the role pharmacists have played in vaccinations, the provision of rapid antigen tests and generally looking after patients has underscored the pivotal role they play in our community.
“But at the moment community pharmacist are under-utilised and we will be building on their expertise to ensure they can do even more for their communities.”
