Works to build new and upgraded car parking spaces at North Shore Station in the growing area north of Geelong are now complete – making it easier for commuters to park, catch the train and travel.
Minister for Public Transport Ben Carroll and Member for Lara Ella George today visited the station, which now includes 200 new and upgraded spaces, accessible car parking and the installation of 10 new bicycle hoops.
The new car park has been constructed to the north of the existing car park with 140 spaces, while 60 spaces have been upgraded.
Lighting and CCTV has also been installed to improve safety for passengers at the station, along with wayfinding signage and landscaping.
The project is being delivered by VicTrack and forms part of the Labor Government’s Car Parks for Commuters Program.
Civil construction company Ace Infrastructure was appointed to design and construct the car parks on behalf of VicTrack, following a competitive tender process.
Ace Infrastructure has significant experience in constructing station car parks, and has also delivered car parking at Gisborne, Riddells Creek, Kyneton and stations and is constructing a new car park at Beaufort Station.
Since 2014, the Government has delivered 16,000 new and upgraded parking spaces at train stations across the state, is on track to deliver an additional 5,000 new and upgraded spaces.
