New cards for easier library experience

Library users will enjoy some added convenience with the release of new membership cards for the region’s two libraries this week.

The Armidale and Guyra libraries now share a common Armidale Regional Libraries membership card and will help streamline processes for joining and using library services.

New members are being issued with the plastic cards from this week and existing members will be able to switch to the new cards when they come into one of the libraries.

“The days of searching for library cards could be over for our customers,” the Chair of Council’s Community Welling Advisory Committee, Councillor Debra O’Brien, said.

“The new plastic cards come with an additional snap-off mini card designed to attach to keyrings and printed with its own barcode.

“Attach them to your car keys or house key and the mini card will be conveniently on-hand for a visit to the library.”

Cr O’Brien said the new cards are another step towards improved services for library users.

“Their introduction comes at a time when the library team is consulting with the community to help prepare a 21st Century Libraries Strategy for the region,” she said.

“We have had a fantastic number of people completing an online survey for the strategy, a series of community forums is underway for users and other interested people, and there are now online forums to offer a further way to provide input.”
