Cultural leader and educator Professor Andrea Hull AO has been appointed Chair of the Melbourne Recital Centre.

Professor Hull brings to this important role a distinguished record of achievement in the arts, government and education.

As Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) from 1995 to 2008, Professor Hull made a significant contribution to Victoria’s cultural landscape and Melbourne’s Arts Precinct.

At the VCA, she led major capital works projects and fundraising campaigns.

Currently chair of the ABC Advisory Council, Professor Hull has held board positions across the breadth of Australia’s cultural and not-for-profit sectors, taking in the Florey Institute, ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Museum of Australia, Breast Cancer Network and Melbourne Forum.

She is Professor Emeritus of the University of Melbourne and consults widely on problem solving, cultural management and executive coaching.

Melbourne Recital Centre has established its position as one of the country’s best music venues, celebrating its 10th anniversary earlier this year. It presents Australia’s most diverse and extensive live music program, each year hosting more than 600 events that are enjoyed by thousands of music lovers.

The centre’s learning and access programs provide opportunities for all Victorians to experience and engage with music.

As stated by the Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley

“Andrea Hull brings a wealth of expertise and skills to the leadership of the Melbourne Recital Centre, along with a deep understanding of the creative industries.”

“I welcome Andrea back into the heart of Melbourne’s Arts Precinct and I look forward to her contribution to the future of the Centre and to our creative state more broadly.”

“I acknowledge the contribution of Acting Chair Stephen Carpenter and thank him for so capably leading the Recital Centre over recent months.”
