Mr Ian Martin has been appointed as the new Chair of the Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), Deputy Premier Jackie Trad said today.
He will take over from retiring Chair Mr Don Luke on 1 April.
“I congratulate Ian on his appointment and thank Don for his leadership and dedication over the past five years,” Ms Trad said.
“QIC is a big contributor to our economy, providing employment to more than 35,000 Queenslanders through the funds management business and in actively running assets on the ground.
“It also plays an important role in developing the state’s vital energy, transport, agribusiness and real estate assets.”
Mr Martin has more than 30 years’ experience in the investment management, superannuation, investment banking and financial services sectors.
He is currently Chairman of UniSuper and Chairman of Sydney’s Wayside Chapel Foundation. He is the former Chair of Argo Investments Ltd and former Chief Investment Officer of the BT Financial Group.
Mr Martin was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2014 Australia Day Honours list.
QIC is a State-government owned leading investment provider for sovereign wealth funds, superannuation funds and other institutional investors.
