ACCC Chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb has welcomed the appointment of Dr Lilla Csorgo as its new Chief Economist.
Dr Csorgo has nearly 30 years’ experience in competition economics and has worked as a senior economist around the world. She joins the ACCC from the Competition Bureau Canada where she was Chief Economist.
She has worked as Chief Economist at the New Zealand Commerce Commission and Head of Economics and Policy at the Hong Kong Competition Commission and spent several years in private practice at consulting firm Charles River Associates.
“Dr Csorgo is a highly skilled economist, and the ACCC will benefit from her extensive experience across different jurisdictions,” ACCC Chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb said.
Dr Csorgo holds a Bachelor of Economics from McGill University and was awarded a PhD in Economics with a speciality in Industrial Organisation and Economic Development from the University of Toronto in 1993.
She is also currently a lay member of the High Court of New Zealand and was previously a lay member of the Canadian Competition Tribunal.
“I am delighted to welcome Lilla to the ACCC and look forward to working closely with her,” Ms Cass-Gottlieb said.
