Lands Minister John Carey has announced TysonJoe Pty Ltd as the preferred proponent to deliver and operate a child care centre site at the popular Waranyjarri Estate in Broome North.

TysonJoe Pty Ltd is an experienced developer and accredited child care centre operator, who currently run the Piney Lakes Childcare and Kennedy Kids Childcare in Perth.

Following a national Request for Proposal, TysonJoe Pty Ltd are currently finalising negotiations for a joint venture partnership for the centre with Nyamba Buru Yawuru (NBY) – the operational company of the Yawuru people, who are the Traditional Owners of the land and waters in and around Broome.

The child care centre is situated on a 2,256 square metre site on the corner of Yako Mall and Shingoro Street adjacent to the Broome North Primary School. Initial plans submitted for the centre include offering 85 places for long day care for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years of age.

The new centre, which is expected to open its doors to families by mid-2025 is located next to the recent release of Stage 11 residential lots at Waranyjarri Estate.

The Waranyjarri Estate currently has 12 lots for social housing, 11 lots for Government Regional Officer Housing (GROH), along with available homesites ranging in size from 480sqm to 784sqm and prices starting from $183,000.
