A new collection site for the McGowan Government’s Free Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) Program will open in Rockingham tomorrow (March 9) to make it easier for households to collect their five free RATs.
The Western Australian Free RAT Program is an Australian first, providing an initial 5.3 million free RATs to more than one million households across the State.
Under the program, each WA household is eligible for five individual tests, which they can either have delivered or opt to collect from a metropolitan collection site.
Households are able to register online at or for those unable to register online, they can contact 13 COVID (13 26843) for assistance in placing their order. To register, people are required to provide their name, contact number, email and home address.
People should allow for up to 15 business days for delivery from when they receive confirmation, with regional areas being prioritised initially.
Once registered, people will receive confirmation with a unique order number which is required if they elect to collect their free RATs from a designated collection point in the metropolitan area.
The new site will be at the Rockingham Railway Station overflow car park (corner of Rae Road and Ennis Avenue). It will be open 7am to 6.45pm from Wednesday March 9 to Friday March 11.
WA households are also able to collect their free test from the Perth Airport collection point.
It is mandatory for people who return a positive RAT to register their result online with the Department of Health. Those who do not have access to the online registration system must still report their positive test result by contacting 13 COVID (13 26843).

“We are making it easier for households to collect their free Rapid Antigen Tests with a new collection site in the metropolitan area.
“The Rockingham site will be more convenient for people in the southern suburbs to collect their free RATs.
“People can also collect their RATs from the Perth Airport collection site or opt to have their RATs posted out to their home.
“Making sure every WA household has access to free RATs is an important part of being prepared for COVID-19.
“RATs enable people to get tested quickly for COVID-19 in the convenience of their own home, minimising people’s movement and the potential spread of the virus.”
As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
“Our Australian-first Free RAT Program will make it easier for households to navigate the next stage of the pandemic – particularly when we get to a very high caseload environment.
“RATs are recognised as a diagnostic tool for COVID-19, and complement the State’s PCR testing regime.
“In addition to households, the State Government is also providing RATs to the community service sector, and schools and childcare providers, to ensure they have supplies when the critical worker furloughing policy takes effect.
“Anyone who returns a positive RAT must register their result with the Department of Health, isolate immediately and follow the relevant positive case guidance.”
