New Constables commence duty at Launceston Police today

Launceston Police welcome 12 newly graduated Constables into their ranks from today.

“Twelve new Constables who graduated at the Police Academy last Friday join the ranks within Launceston Police Station, serving and protecting the Launceston community from today,” said Inspector Nathan Johnston.

“For the first time ever, our new Constables who start their policing career in Launceston today were able to complete their training in the inaugural Launceston Satellite Recruitment Course at the UTas Newnham Campus.

“The Launceston Satellite Recruitment Course allowed our new Constables to remain living near home during their training, remaining in the community they would come to serve and protect.

“Commencing on 24-hour operational shift-work, guided and mentored by experienced officers, our new Constables are ready to put their training into practice.

“On behalf of Launceston Police, I welcome our newest officers and wish each of them well as they start what I hope will be an enjoyable and rewarding career for each,” said Inspector Johnston.

Tasmania Police is actively recruiting for a record course of 80 recruits to commence next January.

“I encourage anyone who has ever considered becoming a police officer to get in touch with our Recruitment team today. Another Launceston Satellite Recruitment Course will be held at the UTas Newnham Campus commencing in January. If you want a solid, rewarding, and exciting career – now could be your time to join Tasmania Police.”
