  • WA Governor to officially swear in Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries for the Cook Labor Government tomorrow

Incoming Premier Roger Cook has today announced the refreshed Cabinet team and allocation of portfolios.

In addition to his responsibilities as Premier, Roger Cook will also hold the roles of Minister for State and Industry Development, Jobs and Trade, Public Sector Management and Federal-State Relations.

Incoming Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti will add the portfolios of Treasurer and Tourism to her Transport responsibilities, utilising her skills and experience in those areas, as she continues to deliver the State Government’s transformational METRONET program.

Currently spearheading the Government’s growth and ventures in critical minerals including broadening end-to-end capabilities in battery development, Minister Bill Johnston will add the portfolio of Hydrogen Industry, which will complement his existing responsibilities in Mines and Petroleum as well as Energy and Industrial Relations.

Planning will be added to John Carey’s responsibilities which will strengthen the wide-ranging reforms he has already undertaken in the Housing, Lands and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾lessness portfolios.

Don Punch adds the Volunteering portfolio to Regional Development, Disability Services, Fisheries and Seniors and Ageing.

Kingsley MLA Jessica Stojkovski will take on the role as new Cabinet Secretary and Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier; Minister for State and Industry Development, Jobs and Trade, Public Sector Management and Federal-State Relations.

The new Parliamentary Secretary will be Kimberley MLA Divina D’Anna, who will be working closely with the new Deputy Premier.

The incoming Premier, Deputy Premier, new Minister and Parliamentary Secretary, along with Cabinet Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries with portfolio changes, will be officially sworn in at a ceremony at Government House tomorrow.

As stated by Acting Premier Roger Cook:

“The newly shaped Cabinet team is one of energy, experience and stability.

“I will be leading a united and responsible team which is ready to take our State forward on the issues that matter to Western Australians.

“We will continue to deliver on the positive platform Western Australians overwhelmingly voted for when they elected this WA Labor Government.

“My Government’s focus and energy will be on cost of living pressures, strengthening and diversifying our economy, setting up our State for the future with a transformational infrastructure program, investments in health and housing, and delivering a cleaner, affordable and reliable climate future.

“Through a combination of humility and hard work, my team will lead Western Australia through the challenges ahead.

“I want to acknowledge Mark McGowan who has been an incredible Premier, and thank him for his 30 years of service to Western Australia.”
