Campaspe Shire Council has a new Council who were officially sworn in was tonight following the official declaration of results from the Victorian Electoral Commission on Wednesday morning.

In total, nine Councillors were sworn in, including re-elected councillors, Cr Robert Amos, Cr Tony Marwood, Cr Daniel Mackrell, Cr John Zobec, Cr Paul Jarman, Cr Adrian Weston, along with three new councillors, Cr Jessica Mitchell, Cr Luke Sharrock and Cr Zoe Cook.

As of the 2024 local government elections, Campaspe Shire changed from a five-ward structure (Echuca, Western, Rochester, Kyabram-Deakin and Waranga) to an unsubdivided structure with all nine elected members representing the whole municipality.

Campaspe Shire Council CEO, Pauline Gordon said it is a good mix of returning councillors alongside new councillors who will bring fresh perspectives and renewed energy to council.

“The Councillors will go straight into an intensive induction program that we have been planning for months to ensure they are fully equipped for their new roles.”

“This Mayoral and Deputy Mayoral term will be the first under a new program of mandatory training enacted by the State Government to ensure those elected are as equipped as possible to provide the leadership and integrity to which all are committed.

“Councillors will also be subject to a new Model Councillor Code of Conduct which is consistent across all local government areas in Victoria,” said Ms Gordon.

The newly installed Council will vote for the Mayor and Deputy at an unscheduled meeting on Tuesday, 19 November and will set meeting dates for the 2025 year at their first scheduled meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, 10 December.
