New tennis and multipurpose courts are on the way for Corinella and Grantville.
At Corinella’s Harold Hughes Reserve, a new compliant tennis court with an acrylic playing surface will be installed, as well as new perimeter fencing and lighting. A book-a-court system will also be installed, allowing the public to book a court and to play under lights.
The Project will also include the development of a multi-purpose court with an acrylic playing surface. The multi-purpose court will include a hit up wall, a netball and basketball ring, soccer goals and will be line marked to accommodate an additional tennis court.
Work on this exciting Project will begin on 24 February and is expected to be completed by early June, weather permitting. The total project cost is $684,000 which is being fully funded by Bass Coast Shire Council’s renewal program. The renewal program ensures that Council’s open space areas are fit for their current use and managed in a way that meets community expectations.
The redevelopment of the Grantville Tennis Courts, located within the Grantville Recreation Reserve, will result in one compliant tennis court with an acrylic playing surface, new perimeter fencing and shelters. This Project will also include the installation of a multi-purpose court, similar to that in Corinella.
Work on the Grantville Project begins on 17 February and is expected to be completed by October, weather permitting. The total project cost is in the order of $456,000 which is being funded with $250,000 from Sports Recreation Victoria, $110,000 from Council, $30,000 from the Grantville Recreation Reserve Committee of Management and Grantville Residents and Business Association, $25,000 from Bendigo Community Bank and $41,000 from Tennis Victoria.
It can be a challenge to deliver these works and not affect key recreational user groups, especially when much of this work is determined by weather conditions. Council appreciates that these works may present an inconvenience and asks for patience during these times. Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be in place during these works.
The contractors will make every effort to minimise disruptions to clubs, reserve users, motorists, schools, residents and businesses.
