Campaspe Shire Council has successfully secured funding for a new supervised school crossing site on Echuca’s Wilkinson Drive.
Mayor Chrissy Weller said the funding had been provided through the Department of Transport.
“We are pleased to have received confirmation that the supervised school crossing site for Wilkinson Drive will be constructed near Lavender Street.
“Both the infrastructure and the supervisor have been funded, so we hope to instate the crossing as soon as schedules will allow.
“The application was lodged in February of this year to ensure Echuca Twin Rivers School and Twin Rivers Specialist School had resumed full capacity once COVID restrictions were lifted, so that when the students were counted, the application was accurately represented.
“The crossing will be a fantastic asset for the families of these schools, and we are proud to support them.”
All existing supervised school crossings across the shire have been funded for the 2022/23 financial year and will operate as usual. Campaspe Shire now boasts 17 supervised school crossing sites.
