New defibrillator for Legerwood thanks to funding from the Rockliff Liberal Government

Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

Although a small community, Legerwood has a big heart, and receives a large number of visitors each year to its beautiful park and World War I memorial of carved trees, all maintained by local volunteers.

Last year a visitor suffered a heart attack at Legerwood, and while the person was fortunately able to be revived, the incident highlighted the need for a community defibrillator.

Liberal Member for Bass, Simon Wood, worked closely with Better Health for Dorset and the Legerwood Hall voluntary committees to secure $2,500 funding for a defibrillator.

“The Rockliff Liberal Government is doing what matters for Tasmanians by investing in the services and infrastructure our regions need,” Mr Wood said.

“It is with great pleasure that I was able to present the defibrillator to the community on Monday.”

The defibrillator will be located in the Legerwood Park amenities block to ensure it is accessible to the community.

Legerwood Hall committee has also independently raised funds to buy another one, which will be kept at the Legerwood Hall.
