Bedtime Stories for Dementia Therapy are uplifting stories that can be categorised as ‘purposeful activities’ that may improve the quality of life for people living with early to mid stage dementia.
Each short story, (average of 5 minutes), is founded on numerous empirical studies, current research and practical application by dementia related specialists like Dr. Norman Doidge, Glenn Doman, Dr. Daniel Nightingale and many other leaders in the field of neuroplasticity.
Twenty-one individual stories have been included in the book, each of which typically aligns with the lives of people who are on their journey with a dementia related illness.
Each short story can be read/listened to before the person living with dementia goes to sleep. The story content is absorbed during the Alpha state of awareness (just before sleep) and may assist with improving motivation, socialisation, relaxation and concentration.
Included in the book are fully explained guidelines in the delivery of the bedtime stories as well as a template that enables you to write stories people living with early to mid stages of dementia can specifically relate to.
Additional sections include a brief overview of Alzheimer’s, the Brain and the Mind, M.I.S.T and Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy.
About the Authors:
For more than a decade Robyn Etherington has been importing life-size baby dolls to aid in dementia therapy. Combined with studies under Dr. Daniel Nightingale and Joane Goulding, Robyn and her husband Philip have developed Bedtime Stories for Dementia Therapy.
We also include resources from experts who specialise in dementia therapy, the use of neuroplasticity and M.I.S.T Motivational Instruction Sleep Therapy, which takes only two minutes per night to deliver 45 minutes after sleep occurs.
Philip & Robyn Etherington live in Brisbane Australia and operate a private practice, Inspired Mind Therapy, where they specialise in Dementia Therapy incorporating Psychotherapy.
