Students in Victoria’s northern suburbs are one step closer to enjoying new, leading medical teaching facilities at Kangan Institute’s Broadmeadow campus, with designs officially unveiled.
Minister for Training and Skills and Higher Education Gayle Tierney welcomed the milestone for Kangan Institute’s new Broadmeadows Health and Community Centre of Excellence this week, made possible by the Andrews Labor Government’s $60 million investment.
The new centre will support courses in high priority areas including aged care, mental health, disability, pathology, allied health, and early childhood education and care. It will also feature labs for health simulation, outdoor spaces for students and flexible learning spaces at the Pearcedale Parade campus in Broadmeadows.
Developed by Australasian architecture firm Architectus, the centre is expected to open in 2025 and the project will create more than 300 jobs during construction.
Students will have access to hands-on learning opportunities thanks to partnerships with local healthcare providers such as DPV Health and Northern Health, which will also assist in the development of health strategies and outcomes for communities in the northern suburbs.
Since 2014, the Government has made a record $4 billion investment to rebuild TAFE and support higher education, ensuring Victorians have access to high quality education and rewarding career pathways.
