Dungog Shire Council has welcomed the appointment of its new Director Planning and Environment, Mr Trevor Ryan, to help lead strategic, statutory and environmental planning for the Shire.
Mr Ryan’s impressive career has spanned management and leadership roles at Port Stephens Council, Newcastle Airport, Central Coast Council, Gosford City Council and Lake Macquarie City Council.
In addition, Mr Ryan is a member of the Planning Institute of Australia, a Registered member of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, and has a number of impressive additional qualifications, including a Master of Urban Design and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning.
Council’s General Manager, Gareth Curtis, says that while the calibre of candidates was strong, Mr Ryan was the standout choice for the role.
“This new Director position will have a significant influence on the future and prosperity of our region and will also play a meaningful role in the development of our long-term planning strategies and policies.
“I’m confident that Mr Ryan’s significant skills and expertise will help us to achieve our collective goals, and I’m very pleased to have him joining our team,” says Mr Curtis.
With a focus on improving processes within council and ensuring regional growth is both sustainable and future-focused, Mr Ryan says he is also excited by the work that lies ahead.
“I’ve long admired Dungog Shire for its scenic beauty and friendly, relaxed way of life, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to join this brilliant community and contribute to the development of the region.
“As the General Manager, Mr Curtis has already set a clear direction for the future of planning and environment within council and the community, and I’m keen to help bring this vision to fruition,” Mr Ryan says.
Mr Ryan will commence in the Director Planning and Environment role on Monday 27 June 2022.
