The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters continues its long-standing reputation for holding events to suit all tastes with A Day of Fashion, taking place this October.
A Day of Fashion will deliver a first-class shopping experience across the City, with renowned brands and independent boutiques offering exclusive discounts to customers on the day. Visitors will also have access to in-store experiences, including workshops and a beauty bar. An open-air showcase of fashion and the latest trends will take place on The Parade, renowned as east Adelaide’s fashion-forward main street and destination for shopping and dining.
Cristina Tridente, Adelaide fashion designer and owner of couture fashion label couture+love+madness, will hold a workshop in her boutique on The Parade. Cristina said: “A Day of Fashion is a fresh take on a fashion event and focuses on celebrating the local business community. It’s about bringing everyone together to share information and continue to improve the fashion industry in SA.”
The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters has been holding spring fashion events since it founded the Adelaide Fashion Festival (AFF) in 2008. The festival was taken over by the State Government in 2015 and moved to Adelaide CBD, where it ran until 2018. During this time, NPSP ran the much-loved Fashion on Parade event, which ended in 2018 following the cancellation of the Adelaide Fashion Festival. Now, A Day of Fashion will fill its shoes.
Mayor Robert Bria said: “A Day of Fashion gives visitors a great opportunity to discover the stores and boutiques tucked away across Norwood, Payneham and St Peters, as well as getting involved in activities led by fashion industry experts.”
As well as discounts at fashion retailers across the City, activities on offer include a hand wellness session including an exfoliation, eco-paraffin wax experience and a ayurvedic-inspired hand and forearm massage delivered by Yard’s Skincare; an up-close and personal viewing of the new collection by couture+love+madness, led by designer Cristina Tridente; and a talk on business and banking tips, for all those studying fashion or considering starting their own label, led by Bendigo Bank and special guests.
Shoppers needing to make space in their wardrobes can do so responsibly at the Council-run donation station located in Norwood Place. Visitors can drop-off any pre-loved clothes that can be worn again and these will be distributed to op shops in the City.
