New Foster Ambulance Station One Step Closer

VIC Premier

The Andrews Labor Government is boosting ambulance resources in Gippsland, ensuring paramedics have the facilities and support they need to quickly respond to local emergencies and save lives.

Minister for Health Martin Foley and Member for Eastern Victoria Jane Garrett today announced planning is progressing on the new Foster ambulance station, with a site on Station Road preferred for the new station.

The new 24-hour ambulance station will feature a three-bay garage for ambulances, two rest and recline areas for our hard-working paramedics to recuperate, training facilities, a fully equipped kitchen and improved security and car parking to keep paramedics are safe.

The new station will be built on the existing ambulance station block and the site of a former police station.

Delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA), construction will get underway once designs are complete and the paramedics from Foster are relocated to their temporary accommodation, a property at the rear of the current Ambulance Victoria station.

The Labor Government is delivering around $249 million to upgrade and rebuild ambulance stations to provide better working conditions for paramedics and ensure lifesaving emergency care is available for all Victorians.

As stated by Minister for Health Martin Foley

“We know that Victorians rely on the expertise, compassion and commitment of our paramedics. We also know that paramedics need modern workplaces, and the latest equipment to stay safe at work and deliver the best care.”

“We’re upgrading and building new ambulance stations across Victoria, including Foster. These modern and well-located ambulance stations mean Victorians can receive the best lifesaving emergency care.”

As stated by Member for Eastern Victoria Jane Garrett

“This ambulance station will have everything our paramedics in Foster need – and its central location means help is just around the corner when an emergency strikes.”

“This will make a big difference to local patients and their families and we’re proud to be getting it done and boosting life-saving resources in Foster.”
