State Sporting Associations (SSAs) will have access to a new program that provides more pathways for coaches and officials to pursue development opportunities, thanks to the McGowan Government.
The $400,000 investment over two years will be administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries through the Coaching and Officiating Grants Program.
SSAs can apply for funding of up to $15,000 per round to develop initiatives that provide sustainable and inclusive support to coach and official development.
Programs that promote and encourage diversity or inclusion among the SSAs’ coaches and officials will be given priority.
Funding can be used for the recruitment, training and education of new and existing coaches and officials, coaching workshops, accreditation for talent identified, and high-performance coaches and officials, including those involved in Paralympic sport.
Applications are open from Monday March 14, 2022 to Friday April 1, 2022.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman:
“The McGowan Government is committed to supporting our SSAs to build the capacity of their organisations.
“Opportunity and access are two of the key pillars in creating positive, inclusive experiences in sport and recreation and everyone, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, location or life stage, deserves the opportunity to participate in sport.
“This program is seeking applications for initiatives that develop coaches and officials in a way that allows them to adapt and modify their practices to create an environment that includes all.”
