New Health Advisory Committee to represent voices from across Territory

NT Government

To make sure the Northern Territory Government continues to invest in the right health services across the Territory, a new Health Advisory Committee has been formed.

The Committee will support the Government’s core purpose to deliver better health for all Territorians. It will represent the community voice and provide advice to NT Health leaders from a Territory-wide perspective.

The Committee – which includes 11 members representing all five regions of the Territory, and Chaired by Ms Bilawarra Lee – will partner with the community in the design and governance of health care, as well as identify priorities.

The membership reflects the diverse NT population and includes representation from the LGBTQI+, disability, mental health and foster carer communities, as well as a broad range of cultures, with one third identifying as Aboriginal.

This month applications have also opened for the Regional Community Engagement Groups (RCEGs), which are the advisory bodies established within identified health service delivery regions. They provide an avenue for the community to present their perspective on the provision of health services in their local area.

Expressions of Interest for community members with an interest in health care who are motivated to make a difference are open until 24 November 2022.

This will be the first time community representation and engagement will be provided by all five regional health services.
