Accessing health care will be easier for the Hume community, with the opening of a new health facility, Craigieburn Priority Primary Care Clinic (PPCC).
This new facility offers medical treatment for non-life-threatening conditions. This means that residents will be able to avoid a trip to a hospital emergency department for injuries and illnesses. The clinic is open each day from 10am to 8pm, and is free for everyone, with or without a Medicare card.
In 2013, Council undertook a study of the health service needs for the community living in the Hume Corridor to identify what services were required. One of the first priorities emerging from that work was the need for increased primary health care services in Craigieburn.
The Victorian Government invested more than $70 million to deliver this new service. Council thanks the Victorian Government, including The Hon. Ros Spence MP, for their support of the Hume community. This investment into health is a welcome improvement for our rapidly growing community.
Improvements to Hume’s health services have been a key priority of Council’s long-term advocacy program. We also continue to call on the Federal and State Governments to fund improvements to Hume’s roads, public transport and social housing.
