New horizons: Bass Coast Council traineeships open for applications

A world of opportunity is now open for six young Bass Coast residents, as Council calls for applicants for its 2023 traineeship program – offering combined paid education and work experience across departments from Arts & Culture to Tourism & Business Development.

With support from Westvic, a group training authority that specialises in apprenticeships and traineeships, the Bass Coast Shire Council traineeship offers 6 successful applicants the chance to build their skills and experience over a full time, 12-month period, to support their future career goals.

For 2023 Council offers available traineeships in Arts & Culture, Customer & Visitor Experience, Finance, IT, People & Culture, plus Tourism & Business Development. Successful candidates will be enrolled in a Certificate III course in a range of subjects including business administration, live production and technical services, hospitality or tourism.

Council offers trainees the same flexible working benefits enjoyed by staff, plus access to apply for internal vacancies, plus hopes trainees secure permanent employment with us after their course.

Building a positive future and creating hope is more important to Bass Coast Shire Council than ever before. Along with our commitments to gender equity and dedication to combating climate change, providing career prospects and a sense of belonging to our community is high on our agenda.

For over 20 years, Bass Coast Shire Council have successfully offered traineeships to people within our region, providing pathways into long term employment in local government and beyond. In 2023 Council extends its training opportunities with VCAL and school-based traineeships.

If you are the next shining star of Bass Coast Shire Council, apply for a Traineeship to make 2023 your year! Applications close 11 January for the Arts & Culture role, then 18 January for all other programs.
