  • Minister for Regional Development Alannah MacTiernan visited Carnarvon today to officially open a new commercial kitchen showcasing the Gascoyne food bowl’s premier local produce.

Taste of Italy by Valeria is a delicatessen and catering business that provides Italian-influenced cuisine, serving breakfast and lunch options to the Carnarvon community.

The project was supported by the McGowan Government through the $45.8 million Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program, which aims to enhance economic development and job creation in regional Western Australia.

More than 45 new Gascoyne-based jobs have been created through investment in local businesses and community initiatives since RED Grants commenced in 2018.

As stated by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

“We have supported owner and operator Valeria Lucchitto to build her small business, providing $100,000 toward the project.

“Valeria’s food and flavours showcase Carnarvon’s amazing local produce and are helping to put the region on the culinary map.

“We want visitors to know that Carnarvon is a great place to stop and stay on their way North.”
