New LEP amendment 36 on exhibition for community comment

Orange Council

Orange City Council has placed Amendment 36 to Orange Local Environmental Plan 2011 on public exhibition for comment.

The proposal relates to rezoning and amendment of minimum lot size for part of Lot 162 DP 1293694, informally known as Hawke Lane Park.

The proposal will:

  • Rezone part of Lot 162 DP 1293694 from zone RE1 Public Recreation to zone R1 General Residential zone.
  • Establish a Minimum Lot Size of 700m2 for the newly zoned R1 land.

Note: “Hawke Lane Park” was initially included in the Shiralee plan as a response to potential flooding risk if the large farm dam on the south side of Hawke Lane were to fail. Council has subsequently acquired and drained the dam, thereby removing the flood risk. As the land is no longer needed to mitigate a flood risk the rezoning is being sought.

The exhibition documents are available online on this page and are also available for viewing at the Orange Civic Centre at the Customer Service Counter, ground floor – corner of Byng Street and Lords Place, Orange – during ordinary office hours, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.

Submissions close at 5pm Wednesday 19 June May 2024.
