New Meters Switched On From Today

  • City of Perth rolls out new parking meters

  • New machines are cashless and ticketless

  • More sustainable and easier

Parking in the City of Perth just got easier with hundreds of new parking meters operational from today.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the first time in more than two decades the meters had been upgraded.

“We have invested heavily in our City of Perth Parking business over the past few years to make it modern and more efficient” said Mr Zempilas

“The new solar-powered meters are modern and embrace cashless and ticketless technology – the right move for our smart and sustainable City of Light.”

The new easy-to-use parking meters have been installed along our city streets and in non-boom gate entry carparks.

To use the machines, people need to enter their licence plate details and tap their credit or debit card to pay. This video demonstrates how easy they are to use. (insert link) Cash-accepting parking meters will still be available in City of Perth Parking carparks and near hospitals.

“We are making parking in the city an easier, cheaper and better experience, and the new meters are just one part of these improvements,” Mr Zempilas said.

“We’re giving choice and convenience back to the community including the recent introduction of the EasyPark payment app and our ongoing commitment to providing more than $6.7 million in free parking initiatives.
