Meeting the challenges of Victoria’s fastest growing municipality has seen the appointment of Brett Luxford as the new Chief Executive Office of Mitchell Shire Council.
A strong leader with experience across economic development, planning and environment and revitalisation Mr Luxford will join Mitchell Shire Council from his current role as Director Economy Investment & Attraction at Greater Geelong Council.
He has been successful in executive leadership roles across a range of Councils with strong experience working in growth areas, peri-urban and rural areas. He also has a strong knowledge of our region having held senior roles with Hume City Council, Macedon Ranges Shire Council and Swan Hill Rural City Council.
His achievements have included leading the development of a partnership with the Victorian Government to revitalise Central Geelong resulting in significant investment into central Geelong; business support and development in regional and peri-urban Councils resulting in investment and job creation; and activating land development for long-term employment opportunities.
Mr Luxford is regarded for stimulating investment and participation while developing strong networks that create a strong foundation for economic and community success.
Employment in growth areas has been a real passion for Mr Luxford, particularly opening opportunities for families to remain localised within a municipality.
Council looks forward to welcoming Mr Luxford, his partner Kristina McMennemin, and his three children Connor, Archie and Wynnie on 24 August.
