Mountain bike enthusiasts can now enjoy trails that take in the summit of Mount Dial and Mt Gnomon with the opening of stage two of a mountain bike project in the Dial Range.
Liberal Member for Braddon Roger Jaensch said the project is the outcome of a partnership between the Cradle Coast Mountain Bike Club (CCMBC), Central Coast Council, Sustainable Timber Tasmania and the Tasmanian Government.
“This is part of a $286,000 Tasmanian Government project funded through the Tasmanian Cycle Tourism Fund,” Minister Jaensch said.
“The new trails have been designed to provide riders longer and more challenging rides within the dial range with sustained climbs and descents.
“This is a fantastic outcome for the mountain biking community and confirms our commitment to growing Tasmania’s mountain bike tourism industry.
Liberal Member for Braddon Felix Ellis said the new trails be a big boost for locals and tourists.
“Locals know the Dial Range is a hotbed for mountain biking on the North West Coast because it’s trails are all so different,” Mr Ellis said.
“The area is also a drawcard for walkers on the multi-use trails”.
“The new trails are great news for all involved, especially local businesses that will benefit from more visitors to the local area.”
The designated area for mountain biking includes about 13.5 km of trails.
